The people you’ll practice with at the end of every month in this program are not fellow students. They are bilingual locals who live and work in Tijuana. You practice with people for whom Spanish is not homework, it is their life.
Zona Río: The safest, most professional part of Tijuana
Our classes take place in Tijuana’s main business district. Not a campus. A real neighborhood with offices, restaurants, and culture, where Spanish is everywhere and the environment does half the teaching, while feling safe.
9 years of proof: One teacher, one method
Daniela Barrera has spent over nine years turning professionals into Spanish speakers in this city. Her method is built on one principle: the teacher adapts to the student, not the other way around. This is way this is a SMALL group setting.
10 minutes from the border with San Ysidro/San Diego
Immersion programs cost thousands and require uprooting your life. This one is a Saturday morning drive across the border. There is no other program in the world that gives you this combination of access and authenticity.
Months 1 to 2: You build the foundation inside the classroom and outside in Tijuana.
Every Saturday, three hours of live instruction with Daniela at our Zona Río space. You learn the vocabulary of daily life, the structures that come up in real conversations, and the pronunciation that makes people in Tijuana understand you. Once a month, a four hour practice event with bilingual locals from the community gives you a real measure of how much you have already improved, not a test, a conversation.
End of month 2: Clear roadmap ahead after your 2nd monthly practice/evaluation, Daniela’s feedback and month 3 and 4 billing.
Daniela meets with the group. You talk about what worked individually, what you want more of, and how you want to spend months three through fourth. Continue with the group or move to private sessions, just in case this is your gut feeling, Daniela will help you with all the questions and transition. No pressure. A real decision made with someone who already knows how you learn.
Months 3 to 4: New vocabulary Daniela will reinforce week after week. Now you have clarity, a group of locals and learners.
Important, besides the classes, we will help you immerse through new activities through the city so you keep moving forward. We will make sure you connect with people alike, if that’s something you like of course. This is the approach we recommend with all languages and you will experience how a Spanish teacher with 9 years of experience make it possible.
End of month 4th: 4th monthly practice/evaluation is done, month 5 and 6 billing. Crucial point on the program.
Daniela will help you with all those questions that will arise after the 4th month, this is the equivalent of steep hill you need to walk through for the next part to flow.
Months 5 to 6: 2 teacher method is implemented, now you get 2 teachers to bounce ideas around and discuss new topics, we go all the way, we are as committed as you are now!
Yes, it’s time for you to change the mindset and start talking with EVERYONE, these 2 last months, things start to finally click! There’s no way back now, commit to your process. By now you group is strong enough to plan activities together OUTSIDE the classroom and the secret is finally understood. The combination of everything you went through was the secret formula to learn Spanish.
End of month 6th: All we have learned, a final cool Mexican activity you will love, we will be here for you to keep practicing forever (and free)
Yes, for free you’ll be able to keep practicing with ll the community. We will present to you how you can improve from this point forward, but NOW you finally can follow real conversations (around B1 which is early intermediate!!!!). Once you get here, you will feel proud, you will make us proud and you’ll get the heart of all the community of locals and teachers that worked in this program 💜
